Ebook About
Now a Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestseller...From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone, second-chance story of forbidden love...It's natural to want the one you can't have. And for as long as I could remember, I'd secretly wanted my brother's best friend, Jace.He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had.Fast forward a decade. We were all in our twenties now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died.It was just the three of us--an odd family dynamic.Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn't look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.I was pretty much hot and bothered twenty-four-seven.And he was torn. The signs were subtle, at first. Like on movie night, I'd casually rest my leg against his, and he wouldn't exactly shift away.Still, I assumed he would never...go there.Nathan would kill us.The knowledge of that wasn't enough to stop the inevitable, though.Eventually our slow burn exploded. But more than the physical attraction, we'd developed a strong connection. We just couldn't get caught, right? That sounded simple.Until it wasn't.This is a story of forbidden love, broken trust, and an unexpected second chance.

Book The Crush Review :

I'm a big fan of Penelope Ward's. I've read most of her work and I usually have nothing bad to say, BUT this book... this book just did not do it for me. I honestly didn't like any of the characters. Basically the whole book was about Farrah, her brother Nathan and Nathan's best friend Jace. Farrah was six years younger then the guys. Her parents were killed when she was 14 and she's been living with/being raised by her brother ever since. Jace goes to live with Nathan and Farrah to help them when they are having trouble making ends meet. During this time he falls for Farrah who has had a crush on him since she was little. They keep it quiet because Jace is worried that Nathan will be mad to find out they were together. Long story short, Nathan found out, Jase left for three yeas and came back and the ending was easy to figure out. Let's start with the characters.... Nathan is very protective, but almost to the extreme. His actions are almost stalkerish in my opinion. He acted like a CHILD when he found out about Jace and Farrah. He is an extremely selfish person. He never thought about Farrah and her feelings, only himself. He was willing to destroy his sisters chance a happiness, simply because he didn't like Jace and Farrah being together. I thought Farrah was childish and lacked a backbone. Her feelings toward Jace was boarder-line obsessive. Jace was a mess, plain and simple. He wouldn't stand up for his feelings for Farrah, instead he just took off. I HATED how Jace and Farrah talked to each other. It was cringe-worthy. There a couple of scenes in the book that just made my skin crawl... they were just over done.
I swear I fall more and more in love with Penelope Ward’s books with each one that comes out. Her words always have a way of making me feel as if I'm apart of her character's lives. And just like the others that have come before The Crush, I felt the same about this one as well. Everything about this story was a wonderful surprise—from the confident prose, to the dynamic characters, this is a love story that I immersed myself into fully and wholeheartedly, and loved every single minute of it.Farrah and Jace’s story was full of passion, forbidden desire and angst. Reading their story took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. Together, they were explosive. I was frantically turning pages to see what would happen next, absorbing each and every word. This is a slow burn, sexy, angst-filled story of second chances and forbidden desires. It's a story with imperfect people who sometimes choose wrong. It's a story with heartbreak and angst, but also with healing and growth. And most of all it's a story of learning to follow your heart.I was hooked on this book from the moment I started it and I could not put it down until the end. An emotionally charged, angsty love story and such a rollercoaster. It was absolutely unputdownable. An amazing story of two people, the choices they made and the unending love they had for each other.
